Persona Simulator
The Persona Simulator lets you preview Salesforce exactly as another user sees it — without needing their credentials or switching orgs. It's the fastest way to test permission changes.
Why It Matters
When you change permissions, you need to verify the effect. Without Persona Simulator, you'd have to:
- Log in as the user (requires their password or reset)
- Use a sandbox with a cloned user
- Ask the user to test and report back
With Persona Simulator, you select a user and instantly see a permission matrix that mirrors their access.
Features
User Selection
Search for any active user in your org by name, email, or profile. The simulator loads their effective permissions — combining:
- Profile permissions
- Permission set assignments
- Permission set group assignments
- Field-level security
- Record-type access
Object Access View
See which objects the selected user can create, read, edit, or delete. Color-coded for instant scanning:
- Green — full access
- Yellow — partial access (e.g., read-only)
- Red — no access
Field-Level Access
Drill into any object to see field-by-field access. Filter by read/write/hidden to quickly spot gaps.
Tab Visibility
See which tabs are visible, default on, or hidden for the selected user.
App Access
Check which apps and connected apps the user has access to.
Use Cases
- Verify a permission change before deploying to production
- Debug access issues reported by a user
- Audit a profile before a release
- Test a new hire's access on day one
